Washington Parish 4-H and FFA members presented Gov. Bobby Jindal a custom-made wood duck box and a bat box at his visit to the parish on July 14.

Pam Hodson, LSU AgCenter Southeast Region Director, said the groups are making the boxes to be donated to the 20 state parks in Louisiana.

“The students are planning a tour of the state parks later this fall where they will combine efforts with students from the local area to place the boxes in their permanent locations,” Hodson said.

Ethan Graves, an American Wetlands Conservation Corps volunteer in Washington Parish, made the presentation.

Jindal thanked the youth for what they are doing for the state and praised the adults for teaching the students practical, hands-on skills.

“I hope they’ll enjoy their visits to the state parks across our beautiful state, but even more, I think they are learning skills that will benefit them an entire lifetime,” Jindal said.
