4-H’ers Address Board of SupervisorsIt was 4-H’s turn to open the October 29 Board of Supervisors meeting. Each month the Board features an LSU System unit with remarks from its students. After leading the devotion and Pledge of Allegiance, Vermilion Parish 4-H’er Victoria LeBlanc and East Baton Rouge Parish 4-H’er Jay Marshall addressed the Board. They spoke on the value of the program.
Speaking about how 4-H personally has affected her, LeBlanc said, “The most important lesson I have learned is not about receiving. It's about giving. My involvement in the 4-H citizenship project has helped me to realize that I can make a difference in the world, one moment and one person at a time.”
Remarking on the responsibility of being 4-H Executive Board members, Marshall said, “Victoria and I represent thousands of 4-H youth in Louisiana who are using their head, heart, hands and health to better our schools and communities.” He noted that 4-H is “adapting with the times” through its four major initiatives of leadership development and service learning, workforce preparation, after-school and character education.
