[Image: picture of Centenial logo.]Jefferson Parish 4-H will be celebrating “100 Years of Developing Youth in Louisiana.” The fun begins January, 2008 and continues all year long! The schedule of events is listed below.
January– Kick-Off Activity:
The Centennial financial donation drives will begin. 4-H clubs will collect pennies for 100 days beginning January 8th and ending April16th.
February:
4-H Centennial Poster contest announced and contest rules distributed.
March:
The Centennial poster contest ends on the 31st.
Teen leaders will continue their Botanical Garden service learning project. They will finalize all games and activities to be conducted in the Kids’ Discovery Area at the Spring Garden Show.
April:
The 100 Day Centennial 4-H Club Penny Drive will end on the 16th.
Teen leaders will conduct the Kids’ Discovery Area at the Spring Garden Show, April 5-6, 2008. They will distribute information on 4-H as well as conduct various games and activities with youth attending the show. Centennial donation box will be available in the Kids’ Discovery Area for those wishing to donate during the Spring Garden Show.
The winning Centennial Posters will be on display in the Kids’ Discovery Area for public viewing.
The Hall of Fame nominees and their families will be invited to a reception at the conclusion of the Garden Show on April 5th. The reception will include a Centennial birthday cake. The Hall of Fame nominees will be presented with a plaque at the reception.
May:
A plaque will be presented to the top winner of the Centennial Poster Contest; other winning levels will receive ribbons and certificates.
June:
Presentation of Jefferson’s Centennial Donation check to the State 4-H Foundation at 4-H University in Baton Rouge.
July: 4-H Camp
Celebration continues at camp with events and activities planned at Camp Grant Walker.
August and September:
Distribute Centennial materials at 4-H enrollment meetings.
October: National 4-H Week
Distribute Centennial buttons to newly enrolled 4-H members. Each 4-H club will hold their own event to celebrate National 4-H week at their school or community sites.
November:
Parish-wide Centennial bookmark contest will begin Nov 1st ; end the 30th.
December– Ending Activity:
Distribution of the winning bookmarks at 4-H clubs’ close of the year celebration events. A plaque will be awarded to the winner of the Centennial bookmark contest; other winning levels will receive ribbons and certificates.
