[Image: 4H Centennial Celebration]Join Ascension Parish as we celebrate 100 Years of Growing Youth in 4-H. Activities promoting the 4-H Centennial Celebration will be held all over the parish. Ascension Parish hopes to raise $2,000 for the state Centennial Campaign.
Celebration Ideas:
- December:
- Sew With Cotton Contest Promotion: 4-H 100-Year Birthday Theme with decorations and birthday cake
- Promote Centennial in Newsletter
- Create form to place in newsletter and local newspaper to identify Ascension 4-H Alumni and involve them in 100-year festivities
- January:
- Newspaper article in Gonzales Weekly Citizen
- Launch 100 hours of service for 100 years of 4-H
- Display pictures of Ascension livestock projects throughout the years at Parish Livestock Show
- Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Parish Livestock Show Awards Ceremony and recognize Hall of Fame nominees
- Make announcements throughout Parish Livestock Show
- At LVFC and Council advisory meetings announce 4-H Centennial program and solicit old photos of members if they are former 4-H’ers
- February:
- Centennial Dance in honor of 100 years of 4-H
- Sell 100 Year Centennial T-shirts
- Use the Centennial display at SAIL programs
- Use Centennial display at the 5-parish cluster ALC meeting
- Promote Centennial at Hornets game
- March:
- Advertise 100 Years of 4-H at Ascension Fresh Market
- Advertise 100 Years of 4-H at Shooting Sports meeting and have members make cards for 100 deployed soldiers
- April:
- Promote “Birthday Theme” at Achievement Day
- 100 Dreams – Let 4-H'ers write what they would like to see in 4-H for the next 100 years at Achievement Day
- Put Centennial Logo on Achievement Day trophies and awards
- May:
- News article in local newspaper and get clubs to make announcements
- Volunteer Appreciation Dinner with a 100 Year Centennial theme.
- June:
- Promote on TV at the local Around Town TV station & AgCenter Time
- Promote Centennial at 4-H Day at the Capitol
- Promote and use the display at the HSFPP training conducted in Baton Rouge
- July:
- Conduct a history with the 4-H Clover workshop in partnership with the YMCA.
- August:
- Have a Wear Green and White Day at Parish Schools.
- Make announcements and display 100-year materials at Ascension River Classic Livestock Show
- September:
- Centennial promotion at the Police Jury (have cake and hand out flyers on the history of 4-H)
- October:
- Newspaper article in local newspaper
- Fall Fest Celebration commemorating 100 years of Ascension 4-H with exhibits from past and present 4-H'ers.
- Celebrate Centennial in conjunction with the LVFCs Fall Family Forum
- November:
- Decorate a Cookie Contest in 100-Year Theme and have green tea at the club meetings.
- December:
- Conduct an Essay Contest having the topic related to the history of 4-H in Ascension Parish.
- Jr. Leader Christmas Social with 4-H Centennial Theme
