Louisiana 4-H is turning 100 years old! That’s right- - -in 2008, we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of 4-H in Louisiana and YOU are invited to join in the celebration! Click here for the Louisiana 4-H Centennial Celebration site.
As we celebrate, we trace the roots of 4-H in Louisiana back to Avoyelles Parish (our neighbor) where 4-H began as a corn club. As the program grew bigger, the statewide 4-H event known as ShortCourse was first held in 1915. In 1922, the first campers headed to 4-H Camp Grant Walker in Pollock.
Now, in 2007, 4-H members enjoy all kinds of hands-on activities that help them become positive, productive, capable and caring citizens of our community.
Check out the ways Rapides 4-H will be celebrating the past 100 years and how you can be a part of 4-H right now and in years to come!
