For their service-learning project for this year, members of the Avoyelles Parish 4-H clubs put on a quilt clinic at the Cottonport Quilt Museum. At the clinic, 4-H'ers were taught how to make quilt squares. The ladies at the museum were the teachers, suppliers of materials and volunteers. The squares made at the quilt clinic were donated to the Avoyelles 4-H program, where they were later made into quilts. The two large quilts are going to be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
The 4-H'ers who attended the clinic were instrumental in learning a new skill and also learned how to give something to a larger organization. At the quilt clinic next year, the original quilters who were taught at the clinic this year will serve as teachers for the younger 4-H’ers
