Iberia 4-H'ers Pull Tabs for Ronald McDonald House

Thirty-two 4-H clubs from Iberia parish participated in the Pull Tabs for Ronald McDonald House project. As of August 1, 2007, 92 hours and 50 people had been served. The goal of this project was to assist those families staying at the Ronald McDonald House with sick children and to find a project that all children could participate in, regardless of income level.

4-H’ers learned of the need through a local family who has a child with medical needs staying at the Ronald McDonald House. There were three steps in planning this project: an organizational meeting outlined steps in the project, information was sent to 4-H clubs and the clubs put the project into action. Together, Iberia Parish 4-H clubs collected over 200 pounds in “pop tops.” Participating clubs were awarded with cash prizes donated by the parish Junior Leader Club for the 4-H clubs collecting the most pop tops. As for reflections, they used thought-provoking questions.
