Getting students excited about science is a big focus of National 4-H Week, Oct. 4-10, 2009. Students across Louisiana and the country will be making ethanol, one of the most common biofuels in the United States.

This Web site is designed primarily for science fair projects, but these activities also make great projects for 4-H science displays or science learning activities that relate to 4-H projects. Projects are by grade-levels so they’re age-appropriate. There are discussions about topics like scientific method, doing research and constructing a hypothesis. It also has an “Ask an Expert” feature.
4-H'ers battle bots at 4-H University
4-H'ers participated in a Clover College session on robotics at the 2009 4-H University. Partnering with the LSU Computer Science department, 4-H kicked off the INSPIRE program.

(Distributed 07/09/09) BATON ROUGE, La. – Students attending the robotics class at the LSU AgCenter’s 4-H University squared off in fierce combat with robots they built and programmed. The robots fought in a circle, and the object was to push an opponent out of a 2-foot ring.

During Youth Wetlands Week, April 20-24, the state’s youth will learn how they can protect Louisiana’s coastline from storms and also protect wetlands across the state. A goal of the program is to teach students they have the power to make a difference, said Youth Wetlands Week program director Ashley Mullens.
