Promising Practices Awards

Not quite ready to apply for the State Schools of Character Award?

Maybe your school or district has developed and successfully implemented a unique practice. If so, you should apply for a Promising Practices award. Promising practices does not require a description of your whole character education program, but rather a specific practice or aspect of your program that other schools may learn from and even replicate.

This past year, Haynesville Jr./Sr. High School in Claiborne Parish was recognized nationally for their Promising Practice, “Teaching Good Character.”

Promising Practices Award: Open to public or private schools (K-12) or school districts

Schools or school districts interested in submitting the promising practices application on the state level must follow the application guidelines found at http://www.character.org/promisingpracticesoverview and in addition must submit a hard copy to: Kimberly Jones, LSU AgCenter 4-H, Attn: Promising Practices, P.O. Box 25100, Baton Rouge, LA 70894-5100. The Louisiana Promising Practices application deadline is March 1, 2010.

The National Promising Practices application deadline is March 15, 2010 and should be submitted online at http://www.character.org/.
