Louisiana 4-H recommends schools and youth organizations across Louisiana teach the same character trait each month and integrate decision making into lessons and daily activities.
To be effective, character education should be taught and modeled by the leadership of an organization. Principal's Principles is a schoolwide program that promotes character building through short academic activities. The activities are designed to be delivered by the principal each morning over the intercom and facilitated in the classrooms by the teachers. The Words of the Week can be used as a stand-alone or can be used in conjunction with the Principal's Principles booklet.
The Character Development Program uses the principles of positive youth development to foster the growth of core values that nurture ethical, social-emotional, life-skill and academic development in youth and communities.
