Join the Fun at Fashion Camp
By Nadia Dinwiddie, Louisiana State 4-H Fashion Board Member
January 22-24, 2010, 4-H agents, 4-H members and adult volunteer leaders traveled from all over the state to 4-H Camp Grant Walker, in Pollock, Louisiana, to attend the annual State 4-H Fashion Camp. This statewide 4-H Fashion Camp is a great opportunity for girls and boys to experience two days of learning and fun. While there, campers have fun participating in workshops that teach basic sewing techniques. This year campers learned to sew pajama pants, pillows, which included basic quilting techniques, and much more. Fashion Camp is also a great way to meet and interact with peers while learning challenging new sewing skills.
Avatars visited 4-H Fashion Camp this year. Campers had a chance to experience the many ways to use a Fashion Avatar, a computer-generated 3-D character made to look like the person creating it. After creating Avatars, campers were able to play games, go shopping and chat with other Avatars. All who attended 4-H Fashion Camp found the experience both challenging and enjoyable. I would encourage girls and boys to attend 4-H Fashion Camp next year. For more information, contact your 4-H agent. Hope to see you next year!!
