Benjamin "Buck" Owens

I started the 4-H program in 4th grade. It was a spontaneous decision that changed my life literally, forever. I loved 4-H from the very beginning and served as officers throughout elementary and junior high school. I became very active in 4-H about 1 year ago after I made a split-second decision to go to 4-H Challenge Camp and I decided I must become more involved. I then ran from the floor (at the last minute) for Northeast Regional Representative, and I won. That sparked an interest in the state Executive Committee. Having one year on the State Executive Committee has given me a lot of experience and knowledge about what positions I would enjoy and excel in. I desire mostly to be the State Parliamentarian and I believe with one year of extra experience I will be an outstanding candidate for this office and other state offices. I was the male recipient of the leadership award at my high school for this school year. It was an honor and I’m very grateful. I can only hope I move forward on the Executive Committee and show all 4-H’ers how they can put their leadership skills to use just like me.

Bryson Belaire

I have been in 4-H for 8 years now, since the fourth grade. And when I first joined, I could have never even begun to imagine all that this club has done for me. This past year, I served on the Food and Fitness Board! It was probably one of the biggest responsibilities and honors that I’ve ever had, but I feel as though I did it excellently! This would be my fourth year in the Junior Leader Club. I actually serve as reporter on it this year! I’ve always been very active in 4-H, especially around my parish. I’ve taught young children about agriculture and events such as AgMagic several times, I’ve given speeches on how great 4-H is and what it means to me, I’ve been to livestock shows, camps, and 4-H University a number of times! 4-H has showed me the great leader I can be and has really helped me become more outgoing. 4-H is, without a doubt, the biggest part of my life! I feel qualified to serve as the Central Region’s representative because of all my years in 4-H. I learned so much from my year on the Food and Fitness Board. I also hold several offices around school, including Junior Class President! I love learning new things and meeting new people. I know that I am organized, headstrong, and responsible enough for this opportunity!

Rebecca Pearce

My name is Rebecca Pearce. I have been involved in 4-H for 6 years. I started 4-H livestock shows and am still currently involved. I am previously involved in my school club at False River Academy and the when I was nine years old and in the fourth grade. When I started 4-H I became involved in Pointe Coupee Junior Leadership Club. I currently serve as reporter in both clubs. I have served as many other offices in both my school club and the junior leadership club. As a member of my parish junior leadership club I am involved in almost all the activities we perform such as our service learning project at the nursing homes. I am also involved in the Central Region Leadership Board. I am qualified to be a regional representative for the 2011-2012 year because I am able to develop many ideas and work well communicating with others about ideas without getting into an argument with them, and also because I am involved in many activities through 4-H and I have been involved since I was nine years old.

Robert Fusilier

Hi, I’m Robert Fusilier, and I have been a member of 4-H for the past nine years. Over these nine years, I have become increasingly involved with the 4-H program on both a local and state level. My desire to participate in 4-H has led me to seek out many different leadership roles. Locally, I have served as president of my school’s 4-H club and both vice president and service learning chairman of my parish’s Junior Leader Club. I have also recently become more involved in 4-H on the state level. Two years ago, I was fortunate enough to serve as a member of the state SET Board. After serving one term on the SET Board, I ran for Regional Representative, and was elected to the Executive Board where I was able to become more deeply involved on the state level. These leadership positions have shown me that there are many ways that I can improve the 4-H experience for both myself and others. 4-H is a great program that has provided me with endless opportunities. There is nothing that I would like more than to be able to give back to this program that has given me so much!

Lorna Klein

While serving a 2011 -2012 regional representative I plan on promoting all aspects of our region and hoping to get more teens involved with 4-H in our region and state wide. Our region is one of the larger regions that are divided among the state; therefore we have more of a variety of ideas and interest to bring to the table to make our 4-H club better and more efficient. To do this it's very important to have someone who is not afraid to get out and promote the things we have to offer in 4-H and the importance of our region. I think that as a state wide 4-h community we today don't exactly take into consideration how important each region is to the state because each region is something different to keep our state running such as different agricultures, businesses, and industries. If I do become regional rep., I will push myself to oversee that our region will be known for what it does and the significance it has to 4-H as well as make our region a better club in participating in more 4-H events doing more community service, in competing in more events. As a regional rep., I think it's important to visit schools and communities with 4-h clubs and attend meetings and see what are their ideas they would like to present to the state board. I will be able to support them in changes and request they have for our 4-H state board. If there are schools in our region who don't have a 4-h club, or are unable to get kids interested in 4-H, I plan to visit those schools and get them started in 4-H and possibly make the numbers rise of 4-H members in our region. As I would continue in making a change I'm hoping that other regional reps. will see what I'm doing, take me as an example, and do the same. I will promote our region as a good influence and I will make the state aware of what each region is here for especially ours and what we have to offer.

Cassidy Sonnier

There are just two things you need to know about me: my name is Cassidy Sonnier, and 4-H is my life. I have been in 4-H for seven years, a member of the Calcasieu Parish Jr. Leaders Club for the past four; I served as Reporter in ’10 and President in ’11. I also served as the reporter of the original State Citizenship Board, two years ago. This year I was privileged enough to have been elected as the Southwest Regional Representative on the Executive Board. 4-H has been the most rewarding experience of my life. I have participated in countless leadership and citizenship activities over the years, including competing at 4-H U and being a counselor at various 4-H camps. I have carried a great responsibility on a local, regional, and state level, and acquired invaluable leadership skills. I want to stay as involved in 4-H as I possibly I can, which is why I am applying to be part of the State Executive Board for a second year. With my prior experiences, I would make a wonderful attribute to the Executive Board. I am hard-working, dedicated to 4-H, and have remarkable leadership skills. As part of the Executive Board, I want to help unify parishes across Louisiana, and bring back ideas, activities, and experience to my own parish.

Channing LaLande

Hello, my name is Channing “Chan” LaLande and I am running for State 4-H Historian/Reporter and Southwest Regional Representative. I am 16 years old and I live in Creole, Louisiana, which is in Cameron Parish. My parents are Lee and DeLisa LaLande. I attend South Cameron High School where I am active in many clubs, such as 4-H, FFA FBLA, Sr. Beta, National Honor Society, Science Fair, and Sports. I am our 2010-2011 Junior Class President and I plan on running again next year. I have been active in 4-H since I was in 4th grade. I have been showing livestock ever since my 4th grade year, with the exception of one year because of Hurricane Rita. I showed pigs from 2004 to 2008 and I have showed Braford cattle since 2008.I have even attended the trip to Louisville, KY to show my cows. I’ve also attended many 4-H camps where I have been a camper and a counselor. I have won many trips in 4-H, such as the 4-H Congress Trip to Atlanta, Ga and the YLC Trip to Washington, D.C. Through all of these experiences, I have learned many life lessons. A couple of those are: responsibility, perseverance, dedication, and that know matter what life throws at you, always get up and keep going. So through learning these lessons and through all my 4-H involvement, I think that I am qualified for these state offices.

Hailey Johnson

In the 6th grade, I was introduced to 4-H, a club that has made an impact on my life. My name is Hailey Johnson and I am a 4-Her, leader, and believer. I believe that I would make a wonderful State Officer or Regional Representative, and that I can help make 4-H the very best it can be. Over the past five years I have been 4-H reporter and secretary of my school and Secretary of the Acadia Parish Jr. Leadership club for two years, which I look forward to being the elected president of next year. This past year I fulfilled my duties as the State 4-H Parliamentarian. I have attend many 4-H camps and workshops including 4-H Camp, LOST Camp, Jr. Leadership Conference, the Southwestern Louisiana Leadership Conference, Southwest Regional Leadership Training, and many more. With great honor, I even attended the Southern Region Teen Leadership Conference in Tennessee where I met officers and 4-H members from the southern states. I also helped organize and executed the 2011 Jr. Leadership Conference. I believe that these 4-H experiences have given me the leadership skills to be a State 4-H Officer or Regional Representative and truly make the best better.
