The 2009-10 State 4-H Food and Fitness Board was named at 4-H University held June 23-26, 2009, at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge. The board consists of teen 4-H members from throughout the state. The board will convene in July to make plans for the year. As board members, the teens will learn more about healthy living focusing on nutrition and fitness as well as an emphasis on leadership development and community involvement. Annually, this state board plans a statewide camp for elementary-school members and adult leaders. Beyond the camp, board members are active in regional and parish events, and some serve as teen leaders for parish-based boards and nutrition project clubs.
