28431 POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER - DEPARTMENT OF ENTOMOLOGY (ANTICIPATED)

Postdoctoral Researcher
(Anticipated)

(This is a grant funded non-tenure track position. Continuation will be dependent on funding, job performance, and continued need for the appointment.)

WORK LOCATION: Department of Entomology, Louisiana State University AgCenter, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Genetic studies of the Formosan Subterranean Termite and its gut microbes. Position is in the field of genetics/microbiology/biotechnology in insects. The successful applicant will join a diverse research group focused on the molecular biology of termites and their symbionts.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. degree in molecular biology, entomology, biotechnology, genetics or microbiology; and at least two years of research experience in the principles, methods, materials, and procedures required for molecular genetic research, such as DNA and RNA isolation, PCR, genotyping, sequence analysis, gene annotation, RT-PCR, microarrays, bioinformatics. Further requirements: good publication record; ability to work independently and with a research team; interact effectively with researchers at all career levels; strong statistical, computer and organizational skills.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
