After you have submitted the Request for Employment Packet form to the HRM Office and received the email stating which forms are required, print out the required forms for each folder and provide to your new employee for completion.
- Please Note: Since the informational packets for retirement are updated frequently, please contact the HRM Office for a hard copy version of Folder #2. As an alternative to hard copy brochures, employees may wish to visit each company's website directly to view the investment opportunities offered.
Regular Appointments - Employees who meet all the enrollment requirements below will have the option of enrolling in either the Teachers' Retirement System of Louisiana (TRSL) or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). New employees must be provided with all forms to determine which program will better suit their needs.
- Must be an Academic or Non-classified employee
- Appointment must exceed two years
- Appointment must be greater than 50% of full-time
- Employee may not have F-1 or J-1 status

Temporary or Part-time Appointments - Employees who meet the enrollment requirements below will have the option of enrolling in either Social Security, the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP) or the Louisiana Deferred Compensation Plan (LDCP). New employees must be provided with all forms to determine which program will better suit their needs.
- Must be Academic or Non-classified employee, and
- appointment must be less than or equal to two years, or
- if appointment is greater than two years, percent of full-time must be less than or equal to 50%.
- Note: Employees with J-1 or F-1 status who are considered resident aliens for tax purposes are required to participate in either Social Security or the Louisiana Deferred Compensation Plan. If considered non-resident aliens for tax purposes, they are not elitgible to participate in a retirement program. Contact the HRM Office for details.
