Defensive Driving Class

The Office of Risk Management has developed LPOST (Lost Prevention Online Safety Training, an on-line defensive driving course. Therefore, defensive driving classes will no longer be offered through the AgCenter.

Every state employee, including student workers, who may possibly drive a state vehicle, is REQUIRED to take the defensive driving class within three months of employment and again every three years.

Your defensive driving coordinator (the person in your building, unit, department, etc., who keeps driver authorization records) is required to keep a copy of your defensive driving certificate on file as proof of your compliance with this requirement.

Check with your coordinator to find out when you need to take the class. (Coordinators, you may want to check your records and inform those who need to take the class, especially employees and students who may not receive this e-mail.)

To take the class, go to http://www.doa.louisiana.gov/orm/LPOST/lpost.htm

(Location code for LSU AgCenter employees is 4540.)

Follow directions given on the site. At the end of the testing period, if you correctly answered 80% of the questions, you will be given a certificate to print. Be sure to give a copy of the certificate to your defensive driving coordinator and keep a copy for your records. If you do not answer 80% correctly, you can take the test again in 24 hours.

If you have questions, please contact Larry Stevenson at 225-578-4198 at (lstevenson@agcenter.lsu.edu) or Ms. Gayle Gautreau at 225-578-4162 (ggautreau@agcenter.lsu.edu).
