Description:
Research was undertaken to determine the factors that affect the increase of smut and the extent of the threat posed to the Louisiana industry by the disease. In addition, research was focused on the nature and inheritance of disease resistance and determining the best methods for developing resistant cultivars. The results of these research projects and recommendations for minimizing losses to smut through disease management practices on the farm are presented in this bulletin. Primary Audience:
