Field Day at Northeast Research Station

Gene Burris (standing in striped shirt), a professor at the LSU AgCenter’s Northeast Research Station at St. Joseph, La., explains to farmers gathered for a field day about the research he is conducting to determine how to use technology to better control nematodes. The research involves using a Veris mapping cart, the wheeled device at right, to measure soil conductivity. See more explanation of the research on page 11. Others in the photo are, left to right, Richard Costello, post-doctoral researcher, and Libby Byrnes and Mirandy Lee, both student summer workers. Maurice Walcott, research associate, is standing under the umbrella. (Photo by Mark Claesgens)
