Chalkley family

The Agricultural Leadership Development Program exists because of contributors who have a passion for increasing leadership resources available to Louisiana’s agriculture and natural resource industries. Contributions in the name of individuals, businesses and industry association have been a trait of the program from the beginning. The Chalkley family of Lake Charles established an endowed chair for Ag Leadership that attracted a $400,000 match from the state of Louisiana.

An endowment in the name of LSU AgCenter Chancellor Emeritus H. Rouse Caffey has attracted numerous additional contributions. In addition, an endowment in the name of the Ag Leaders of Louisiana, this consists of alumni of the Ag Leadership Program. Similar contributions provide funds from which earnings are used to defray program costs. As a result, class members pay a modest tuition. The Robert R. Soileau scholarship fund is available for financial assistance.
