Figure 1 – Post-directed chemicals have been used to provide weed control in our sweet sorghum plots. The plots receiving high nitrogen fertilizer rates have competed well with the grasses, but the plots receiving low or no nitrogen rates have not shaded the weeds. It appears that herbicide choices at planting must include chemistry that is effective against annual grasses.
