Sugar at LSU: A Chronology

In 1995, Louisiana celebrated 200 years of continuous sugar production although sugarcane had been introduced many years earlier by the French from the West Indies. The information provided in this article was an exhibition compiled by Christina Riquelmy and Debra Currie in 1996 at the Hill Memorial Library at LSU marking the 200th anniversary of Louisiana sugar. The map of Louisiana depicts the regions where sugarcane is grown today.
