Location: Zoo of Acadiana - Lafayette
Description:

Come Join AWCC AmeriCorps Members
and Volunteer to Build and Install
Bat Boxes
Around the Zoo of Acadiana!

Date: Friday July 25, 2008

Time: 12:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m.

Location: The Zoo of Acadiana
Meet under the Peacock Pavilion

Jungle Camp participants and community volunteers will help AWCC Members Amber Latiolais and Shelley Martin construct bat houses for the wild bat population that lives and feeds around the zoo.

No materials are necessary, but creativity is a must. Building and putting up the bat boxes around the zoo will provide a safe environment for the local bats to prosper. A lot of zoo visitors are unaware of the fact that there are bats who are native to Louisiana's coastal parishes and to Louisiana in general. This project will help educate zoo visitors about the native bats and help the population of bats thrive.
