Who: America’s WETLAND Conservation Corps.
What: A restorative marsh planting on Avery Island that will help return precious land to the famous and historic Louisiana Island.
When: Saturday, October 24, 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
Where: Avery Island boat launch (see directions below)
Avery Island is a vital part of Louisiana culture and nowhere in the world can you find can you find hot sauce like Louisiana hot sauce! This is a great opportunity to help restore Louisiana and America’s Wetlands!
Lunch, snacks and water will be provided for all volunteers. After lunch, volunteers are invited to join in on a behind-the-scenes tour of the McIlhenny Company and Avery Island. If you would like to take part in this tour, please bring a towel and a comfortable change of clothes.
YOU WILL GET WET AND MUDDY!! Getting wet and muddy is not an option. It will happen. So please be prepared. I would recommend that people wear a bathing suit underneath your clothes along with comfortable, closed-toe shoes that will not slip off your feet. (This DOES NOT include CROCs, however popular they may be.) You will want to bring a change of clothes. Please bring sunscreen and bug spray!!
