[Image: 1]Come join up with Natalie Hunsicker, American’s Wetlands Conservation Corps member, and Sci Port Louisiana Science Center in Shreveport to help construct and put up wood duck boxes. Wood ducks normally nest in cavities in trees unlike other ducks such as mallards or black ducks. However, these cavities take a long time to develop in nature, and in young forests have been found to be in short supply. Fortunately, wood ducks can nest in artificial wood duck boxes.
We will also have bald cypress tree seeds for the younger kids to plant and take home to grow. This activity is free with the price of admission to Sci Port. General admission to Sci Port is $17 with kid’s admission $12 for both Discovery Areas and IMAX. For the Discovery Areas only, general admission is $12 and kid’s admission is $9.
We are looking for volunteers to join us in our conservation effort! We will have 20 wood duck boxes to set up throughout the week so we can help out the wood ducks in Caddo and Bossier parishes.

Jeans, shorts, T-shirt,and tennis shoes are all suitable clothes, but please plan for any adverse weather conditions.
