Stop Floodwater in the Yard

Floodwalls and levees are self-supporting barriers to floodwater. They keep the building dry and protect it from:

  • Unequal water pressure on building walls
  • Erosion (or scour) at the foundation
  • Damage by floating debris

Follow the links below to learn more about using these techniques effectively.

Permanent Barriers

Temporary Barriers
Sandbags and water-inflatable dams are temporary, self-supporting barriers to floodwater. Shields can be supported against the building or on frames built out from the walls. Follow these links for more information on using these techniques safely.

To find related products and services, visit the Temporary Barriers, Demountable Barriers, Permanent Barriers and Panel Closures rooms of the Virtual Mall.
