LSU AgCenter Announces Opening of Rebuilding Information Station

NEW ORLEANS -- The LSU AgCenter, in conjunction with the University of New Orleans’ Center for Hazards Assessment, Response and Technology (UNO_CHART), Tulane City Center and Louisiana Road Home program, is hosting an open house for the Rebuilding Information Station (RIS) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 26.

The Rebuilding Information Station is located at 2045 Lakeshore Drive, Suite 103, in the Center for Energy Resource Management (CERM) Building next to the Lindy C. Boggs Conference Center in the UNO Research and Technology Park.

The mission of the Rebuilding Information Station is to assist homeowners in managing the rebuilding and repairing of their hurricane-damaged homes. The station houses project staff members with whom homeowners can participate in one-on-one conversations about their rebuilding projects and/or gather information on various aspects of rebuilding.

Information available at the information station includes steps on how to:

  • Make homes stronger, safer and more energy efficient.
  • Prepare financially for a restoration or rebuilding project.
  • Better understand the construction process, including building codes.
  • Consider the pros and cons of innovative building technologies.
  • Navigate the registry of licensed contractors for homeowners’ particular needs.
  • Obtain information on hazard mitigation.
  • Learn how to avoid contractor fraud.

The Rebuilding Information Station is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays.

For information, call (504) 280-5577, or go to www.lsuagcenter.com/homebuilding or http://dc.road2la.org/.
