Dr. Donald Ferrin is a plant pathologist with the LSU AgCenter Department of Plant Pathology and Crop Physiology. He has a B.S. and a M.S. in botany & plant pathology from Michigan State University; and a Ph.D. in plant pathology from the University of Florida.
Dr. Ferrin was a member of the faculty at the University of California at Riverside and has held positions in industry as a research plant pathologist, laboratory manager and plant disease diagnostician. He joined the faculty of the Department of Plant Pathology & Crop Physiology at the LSU AgCenter in 2005, where he is currently an Extension specialist in plant pathology with statewide responsibility for all horticultural crops.

Plant diseases are an inevitable part of the gardening experience. This presentation will focus on the development of a set of Best Management Practices designed to minimize the impact of diseases in the garden without the need to resort to the use of chemical pesticides.
