Dr. Carlos Smith is both a county agent for Avoyelles Parish and a commercial nursery specialist for the LSU AgCenter. He has traveled extensively, always on the lookout for new succulents and cacti, but is genuinely interested in anything that makes chlorophyll. He is sought after as a lecturer and, after 30 years as an extension educator, is well known throughout Louisiana for his knowledge and wit.
Dr. Smith received his B.S. in biology from Northeast University in 1969, his M.S. in biology and plant taxonomy, and his Ph.D. in horticulture in 1980 from LSU. He is a state specialist in ornamental horticulture and is responsible for commercial ornamental and adult agriculture.

"Practical Plant Propagation"
If you're thinking a lecture on plant propagation may be just too boring, think again. Dr. Smith's method of teaching and lecturing is so entertaining that you forget you have just learned all about the parts of a flower, including the sex life of the plant. This is the one man who will keep you wanting to learn more about botany than you could ever imagine.
