9:00 a.m. til 1:00 p.m.
Randle T. Moore Center
3101 Fairfield Ave.
Shreveport, La.
The date for the much-anticipated Fall Heirloom Bulb Sale has been set! For a chance to add that special bulb that you remember growing in your grandmother's garden, you will want to be sure to be at the Randle T. Moore Center on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 9 a.m.
Master Gardeners have searched old cemeteries and the vacant lots of old country homes for these flowering treasures. It seems like old bulbs are in high demand and are not readily available on the retail market. So thousands of bulbs, many of them of the hard-to-find varieties, will be available for purchase by the general public at very reasonable prices.
Many varieties of Southern and heirloom bulbs will be offered, including: spider lilies (Lycoris) in white, yellow, red and the new orange color; oxblood (school house) lilies in red and pink; crinum; rain lilies; an assortment of daffodils and glads. The glads are the hardy heirloom glads or Byzantine glads.
This is your opportunity to have these hard-to-find heirloom bulbs blooming in your yard and garden next spring. A free help desk will be staffed with Master Gardeners to answer your gardening questions.
Be sure to attend the Master Gardeners' Third Annual Fall Heirloom Bulb Sale.
