The 2008 Southern Region Extension Economics Committee Meetings will be hosted by the LSU AgCenter and will be held at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in New Orleans. The planning committee has developed what it hopes will be a very interesting and informative agenda that will provide insight to some of the major issues facing the agricultural industry. As part of the conference, participants will be able to tour the Port of New Orleans and as well as provide ample opportunity for networking and development of collaborative work within the committees. In addition, New Orleans provides plenty of fun and exiting opportunities. We hope to see you in New Orleans.
Conference Registration
Registration for the conference will be online only. Registration will remain open until June 9, 2008. The registration fee for the conference is $275.00 – the late registration fee will be $300.00. Included in the registration fee are breakfast, lunch, breaks and the tour to the Port of New Orleans on June 23rd, breakfast, lunch, breaks and a reception on June 24th, and breakfast on June 25th. Conference Hotel
The conference hotel will be the Royal Sonesta. The Royal Sonesta is located at 300 Bourbon Street in New Orleans. A block of rooms have been reserved until June 1, 2008 at a rate of $135.00 per night plus tax. Hotel reservations can be made by calling the Royal Sonesta at (504) – 586-0300. Transportation
The hotel does not have shuttle service but there is a shuttle service that picks up at the airport every 30 minutes and will bring you to the hotel. The current rates for the shuttle service are $15.00 for a one way trip or $30.00 for a round trip. New Orleans is a great place to visit. For those wishing to take in some more of New Orleans either before or after the conference, the New Orleans Convention and Visitor Bureauis a great site to visit to see what New Orleans has to offer. For those wishing to take advantage of Louisiana’s great fisheries, a host of chartered fishing opportunities are available in and around the New Orleans area.
