The Agricultural Chemistry program is a joint effort between the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center and the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry. The Department of Agricultural Chemistry provides analytical support for regulatory analyses, research and agricultural extension work

The Department of Agricultural Chemistry provides analytical support for Louisiana Agricultural Experiment Station research scientists and for Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service specialists. Analyses are performed on plant and animal tissues, soil, water, feeds, fertilizers, pesticides, agricultural chemicals and agricultural commodities. The laboratory will analyze these sample types for the general public for a fee.

Pesticide Formulations
The Pesticide Formulations Sections maintains the standard repository for both residue and formulations analyses.

Microbiology Section

Analyses performed by the Microbiology Section include mycotoxins, pathogenic bacteria, vitamin A, antibiotics in feed and Karnal Bunt testing. Other analyses may be performed based on Department Head approval and available resources.

Meat Laboratory

The Meat Lab is an USDA, FSIS accredited laboratory program for protein, moisture, fat, and salt.

Pet Food Samples

Official Pet Food Samples are submitted to the Agricultural Chemistry laboratory for analysis to ensure accurate ingredient content.

Lime Samples
Official lime samples are submitted to the Agricultural Chemistry laboratory for analysis to ensure their neutralizing value and particle size as required by state law.
Feed Samples
Official Feed Samples are collected and submitted to the Agricultural Chemistry laboratory for analysis to ensure accurate ingredient content.

Research Samples
As part of the LSU AgCenter's Agricultural Experiment Station, the Agricultural Chemistry Laboratory provides analytical services to various researchers affiliated with the AgCenter and the University.
Public Service Samples
Analyses may be performed for the general public by any section in the Agricultural Chemistry Laboratory.

Quality Assurance
The Quality Assurance Program is designed to ensure that data produced by the laboratory are scientifically sound and meet defined standards of quality.
