Degree Courses
[Image: Graduate students, Nicholas Gil and John White in Process Development Lab]Audubon introduced two courses in the 2001-02 academic year offered through the College of Engineering at Louisiana State University to enable engineering students to minor in Sugar Engineering and to form part of a post-graduate program for students wishing to earn a master's degree specializing in sugar. The courses are designed for students to gain a full understanding of sugar technology and sugar engineering in the process of earning a BS or MS degree in chemical, biological or mechanical engineering. The student's research project will be supervised, if possible, by Audubon Sugar Institute. The courses are:
BE 4342: Sugar Process Engineering
BE 4347: Sugar Factory Design
Audubon Sugar Institute is offering a limited number of graduate assistantship awards for highcaliber graduate students to study in the departments of biological, chemical or mechanical engineering, undertaking their research in Audubon Sugar Institute and taking the sugar courses as electives. Graduate assistantships in the range of $14,000 to $18,000 are available and entitle the student to pay in-state registration fees.
