White Rust [Image: Photo of rust lesions on sweet potato leaves] White rust occurs commonly on Beauregard during rainy seasons but may not be seen at all in dry years. Lesions appear on leaves as yellow to brown angular spots limited by the leaf veins. The name of the disease comes from the fact that white pustules containing many spores develop in the lesions on the underside of the leaf. Although it has not been thoroughly studied, it is thought that white rust does not affect yield of storage roots.
