Outdoor Skills

The Ascension Parish 4-H Outdoor Skills program is for 4-H members interested in learning more about marksmanship, wildlife, hunting, fishing and conservation. The club meets monthly during the school year.

Youth learn firearm safety and marksmanship in BB, Air Rifle, 22, Air Pistol, Shotgun, and Archery. Members participate in several contests throughout the year including the regional and state shooting matches.

Throughout the summer the members will work on conservation projects such as building pine cone bird feeders, duck boxes and fishing traps.

Parent and community volunteers serve as instructors for the club. If you are an adult interested in volunteering or a youth interested in participating please contact JoAnn Hullum, Shooting Sports Coordinator, at hullum@etigers.net, or the Extension 4-H Office at 225-621-5799.
