Night out at the observatory In celebration of the International Year of Astronomy 2009, the Ascension Parish 4-H SET Club invites families interested to attend a "Night out at the observatory", February 27, 2009. Food and Fitness The Ascension Parish 4-H program promotes health-related educational issues including food and nutrition. Through cookery contests, camps and other educational activities the Ascension 4-H program promotes healthy living among children of all ages. School Clubs Schools throughout the parish have in-school 4-H clubs. These clubs meet monthly for educational programs, projects and fun. Junior Leaders The 4-H Junior Leader Club is for 4-H members in grades 7-12 who wish to participate in leadership and community services opportunities. Each year qualifying Junior Leaders are awarded with a fun, educataional trip at the end of the year. To help youth understand how science impacts lives, the Ascension Parish 4-H Science, Engineering and Technology Board held a Science Camp on November 22 at the First United Methodist Church of Gonzales.
