Interactive, hands-on program designed for K-5th grade youth is a hit with Ascension youth who learn wellness information in a dynamite and exciting way.

Topics covered include: calendar of events, robotics workshop, challenge camp, garden contest, shooting sports, super saturday, achievement day, livestock corral, coin challenge, and recycle project.
Louisiana Suggested Chemical Weed Management Guide [Image: weed management guide]
This guide includes helpful information on herbicides and weed control with detailed suggestions for aquatics, commercial nursery stock, field crops, forestry, fruit crops, home gardens, lawns and many other Louisiana crops. It includes information on different types of herbicide registrations, as well as information on herbicide labels and restricted uses. Also included are sprayer calibration techniques, suggestions for reducing herbicide drift and a guide to proper spray tip selection.

Ascension campers holiday the healthy way [Image: Kassie and Ashley learn about stress]
Four Ascension Parish 4-H'ers participated in the 2009 Food and Fitness camp held at Camp Grant Walker. The girls learned about nutrition, fitness and etiquette and had fun playing games, enjoying Mardi Gras and trying new recipes.
Night out at the observatory
In celebration of the International Year of Astronomy 2009, the Ascension Parish 4-H SET Club invites families interested to attend a "Night out at the observatory", February 27, 2009.
Food and Fitness
The Ascension Parish 4-H program promotes health-related educational issues including food and nutrition. Through cookery contests, camps and other educational activities the Ascension 4-H program promotes healthy living among children of all ages.
School Clubs
Schools throughout the parish have in-school 4-H clubs. These clubs meet monthly for educational programs, projects and fun.
Junior Leaders
The 4-H Junior Leader Club is for 4-H members in grades 7-12 who wish to participate in leadership and community services opportunities. Each year qualifying Junior Leaders are awarded with a fun, educataional trip at the end of the year.
