Assumption Parish 4-H Centennial Celebration Planning Calendar

January:
  • Kick Off Activity – Parish Livestock Show. We will have a 4-H Birthday cake, announcements about the centennial throughout the day, Centennial banner will be unveiled and displayed, and each exhibitor will receive a centennial memento. Centennial logo will be added to picture backdrop.
  • Kick Off Activity – 2 Lock-ins will be held
  • Article will be sent to local newspaper about the centennial
  • All schools will be asked to make morning announcements about the history of 4-H
  • Centennial Poster Contest
  • Police Jury will Sign Centennial Proclamation
  • Send article to the newspaper for Centennial kick off

February:

  • Centennial Essay Contest “How 4-H Has Affected my Life”. Winner receives a centennial gift package.
  • Send article to the newspaper on 4-H Centennial
  • 4-H Hornets game

March:

  • 4-H’ers will do a presentation to the School Board on the Louisiana 4-H Centennial
  • 4-H Hall of Fame recognition ceremony
  • Send article to newspaper for centennial promotion
  • Assumption/Farm Bureau Centennial Celebration Open House

April:

  • Assumption 4-H Ag Day
  • 4-H’ers will do a presentation to the Police Jury on the Louisiana 4-H Centennial
  • Send article to the newspaper for Centennial promotion
  • 4-H appreciation supper with Centennial theme

May:

  • Awards Program – Theme will be Louisiana 4-H Centennial with green and white decorations, 4-H Birthday Cake, Guest speaker on 4-H History (hall of fame nominee). All award recipients will receive centennial memento.
  • Send article to newspaper for Centennial promotion

June:

  • Send article to newspaper for Centennial Celebration
  • 4-H Day at the Capitol
  • 4-H Centennial promotion at sheriff’s summer camp
  • 4-H camp – the first day of camp have all 4-H’ers wear green along with their centennial buttons.

July:

  • Send article to newspaper for Centennial Celebration
  • Distribute book marks with 4-H Facts to parish libraries

August:

  • Send article to newspaper for centennial promotion
  • Beginning of school kick-off – declare parish green and white day

September:

  • Clover bud meeting – 4-H Centennial clover/scavenger hunt
  • 4-H LSU Football game tailgate party (ticket give away)
  • Send article to newspaper for centennial promotion

October:

  • National 4-H Week Centennial display contest
  • 4-H Club programs will be a 4-H History Timeline
  • 4-H Family night and Centennial Celebration (Spook Night) guess how many – green and white m&m’s, have a clover hunt with the 100 clover being the 1st prize
  • Send article to newspaper for centennial promotion

November:

  • Send article to newspaper for centennial promotion
  • 4-H pet show – Dress your pet (4-H theme)
  • Jr. Leader activity
  • 100 Dreams (4-H’ers come up with new ideas for upcoming year – will be done at cookery)

December:

  • Send article to the newspaper with Centennial wrap up for the year
  • Christmas workshop – decorate clover cookies, hand out centennial mementos, 100 hands of 4-H (pledge something to do for their community for new year)
