4-H Cooking Camp

Cooking Camp is a way for 4-Her’s to learn how to use cooking tools, learn cooking techniques/skills such as; cutting, peeling, chopping, dicing. The camp was held July 9, 2007 in Avoyelles Parish. Also, kitchen safety, following a recipe, and baking a dish from start to finish. Easy Cheesy Lasagna was the favorite part of the entire day for the entire group (adult leaders included).

Easy Cheesy Lasagna

  • 8 oz. uncooked lasagna noodles
  • 5 cups (32 oz) spaghetti sauce
  • 2 cups (8 oz) mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups (16 oz) cottage or ricotta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

It is time-consuming to cook the noodles first. But, there is a way to make lasagna without cooking the noodles first! Try this recipe and see.

  • In a medium bowl, mix together the cottage cheese, Parmesan cheese, parsley, basil, and garlic powder.
  • Pour 1 ½ cups of the spaghetti sauce into a 13x9” baking pan, and spread it evenly over the bottom.
  • Place four uncooked lasagna noodles over the cottage cheese mixture (1 cup). Spread it evenly over the bottom.
  • On top of the noodles, spread half of the cottage.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes.
