Southern U Move More Eat Better Southern University Ag Center in Avoyelles hosted its first summer program for six weeks this summer.  It was called Move More, Eat Better.  We had 40 children attend. The children were taught all about  good nutrition and physical exercise. We studied the new food guide pyramid, and we had guest speakers from all areas of the medical and nutrition field.  The children learned how to make healthy and tasty recipes each week . They also learned how to do fun activities for part of their physical activities.  They took part in keeping a journal where they charted what they ate each day and how much exercise they did. At the end of the six weeks, those who participated received a chance to win different prizes,  which were a bicycle, an iPod, two exercise bags and a exercise trampoline.
