Beauregard 4-H Youth Attend State Competition

Beauregard Parish had 20 parish youth represent their school and Beauregard 4-H during state contest held during the 95th annual 4-H University. This contest was held on LSU Campus June 23-25, 2009. The theme for this years’ event was “Rush Into 4-H.” Youth participating had the opportunity to compete against youth from across the state in several 4-H contests. High-placing members received the recognition of in the Blue Ribbon group and possibly monetary awards or educational trips.

Youth attending from Beauregard Parish were Evan Adams, Andrew Alston, Tricia Cooley, Andrew Cooper, Kyle Curtis, Cody Eaves, Jesse Elliott, Jessica Gill, Kari Jarrell, Kelsey Johnson, Shane Harris, Brian Kennedy, Rachelle Marcantel, Summer Masten, Charlene Oneal, Emily Pickering, Garrett Shaver, Thomas Shaver, William Slaydon and Jeanne Williams.

Of those attending and competing, six youth placed in the Blue Ribbon group in their contests. Jesse Elliott placed 16th in 4-H has Talent, Andrew Cooper placed ninth in the ATV Safety contest; Morgan LeDoux placed 10th in the Career Preparation contest; Evan Adams, Jessica Gill and Jeanne Williams were seventh-place team in the Livestock Judging Contest.

Those wishing to participate in this event during the summer of 2010 should contact the Beauregard 4-H office or their local school 4-H club leader. Special thanks go out to Mrs. Jill Cooper, Mrs. Jeri LeDoux, Mrs. Cindy Shaver and Mr. Hank Cooley for helping assist and supervise our Beauregard 4-H youth during this event.
