Beauregard 4-H Outdoor Skills Meeting Set

An introductory 4-H shooting sports/outdoor skills meeting to serve as an advisory committee, plan our program activities and discuss program goals and future activities has been set. 4-H youth and parents/grandparents who plan to participate in this year's Beauregard 4-H shooting sports program are encouraged to attend this meeting. The meeting is set for Monday, August 31, 2009, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the War Memorial Civic Center, Room 4. To retain our participants and help the program grow, we will need to provide as many fun and educational activities as possible. To make this happen, we will need assistance of parents, grandparents and other interested adult volunteers to assist in helping and instructing youth involved in the program. At this meeting, we will discuss the direction of our parish program, set dates for youth activities and plan these activities. We also have the opportunity to utilize some property for a permanent shooting range as well as expand the parish outdoor skills program. We will need to discuss this opportunity at this meeting, as well. Please make every effort to attend this meeting.

Interested volunteers may wish to become a 4-H shooting sports instructors. The closest training for Beauregard Parish is set for Saturday, October 3, 2009. It will be held at the Calcasieu 4-H office in Lake Charles. The training will be 12 hours and will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 8 p.m. Registration information and the $40 registration fee are due by September 21. Please contact Mike LaVergne if you are interested in registering for this training. Our parish program is in great need of additional instructors in all disciplines. Registration information for this training may be obtained by contacting Mike LaVergne at 337-463-7006 or by e-mail at mlavergne@agcenter.lsu.edu.
