[Image: Shooting Sports]The Calcasieu 4-H Shooting Sports Club is very excited to begin activities planned for the 2011-2012 year. Activities will again be held at the Lake Charles Gun Club on Ward Line Road south of Lake Charles, La. Directions to the range are available on the link below.
All club days are on Saturday and begin at 8:30 a.m. The following dates are finalized for club days; other dates during the spring are still to be finalized. The current dates are:
- September 18, 2011 - 12:30 p.m. Last year's members ONLY
- October 17, 2011 -- New member mandatory enrollment meeting, 6:00 p.m. Chalkley Room, Burton Coliseum
- October 22 2011 -- "Bulls-eye & Burgers Fundrasier" -- Open to anyone, Fun Day Shoot
- November 12, 2011 -- First Club day, all members
- December 10, 2011
- December 10, 2011 -- Hunter Ed Field Day, 12:30 p.m., Lake Charles Gun Club
- January 14, 2012
- February 25, 2012 -- Crying Eagle Shooting Contest
- March 17, 2012 -- Calcasieu Parish Contest
- March 30 - April 1,2012 -- Southern Regional Competition, Lake Charles Gun Club and Burton Coliseum Complex, Lake Charles, La.
- April 14, 2012 -- Practice for State competition
- April 27-29, 2012 – State Shooting Sports Competition, Lake Charles Gun Club and Burton Coliseum Complex, Lake Charles, La.
4-H'ers must remember to bring eye and ear protection to the range. A new rule this year states that all shooting sports participants 10 years old and older must be "hunter ed certified" prior to participating in contest days.
