The different divisions are Beef, Fur Festival, Dairy and Character Counts. 4-H'ers are encouraged to share their views on these themes. Good luck, and remember to read the poster rules carefully, as only posters that meet the contest rules will be considered.
BEEF POSTER CONTEST
Submit posters at your November Club meeting or deliver them to the 4-H office in Grand Lake by Monday, November 30, 2009. 4-H Club members are to draw a billboard that encourages or promotes the consumption of beef and beef products and their importance to our health. The use of an original, catchy theme is encouraged. More information can be found at http://www.beef.org/
A. Posters must be on 11 x 14 inch white board only.
B. Do not use copyrighted materials. Computer-generated clip art can be used if it is not copyrighted.
C. Print your name, address, grade, club and parish on the back of poster in the upper right hand corner.
D. All winning posters will become the property of the Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association. Top winning posters will be displayed at one or more statewide events.
E. DIVISIONS: Each 4-H'er who participates will receive a ribbon. A first, second and third place winner will be selected in the following divisions:
Division I – 4th, 5th and 6th grades
Division II – 7th, 8th and 9th grades
Division III – 10th, 11th and 12th grades
Do not roll posters. Please leave them flat.
Fur Festival Poster Contest
Submit posters to the Cameron Parish 4-H office by Friday, December 18, 2009. All Cameron Parish students in grades one to 12 are eligible to enter. Subject of the poster shall be the “Cameron Parish Cattle Industry”.
A. Poster must be on 14 x 22 inch white board only. (1/2 sheet of standard poster board)
B. All work must be vertical. Nothing horizontal will be judged.
C. All lettering must be freehand. Do not use stencils.
D. Medium used shall be: Crayon, Watercolor, Acrylics, Felt-Tip Markers or Oil. No cut-outs.
E. A first, second and third place winner will be selected in the following divisions:
Division I – 1st - 3rd grades
Division II – 4th - 6th grades
Division III – 7th - 9th grades
Division IV – 10th - 12th grades
F. Posters will be judged and points awarded as follows:
Originality – 35%
Theme – 25%
Neatness – 25%
Spelling – 15%
G. Print your name, address, grade, club and phone number on the back of poster in the upper right hand corner.
H. Winners will be announced at the Louisiana Fur and Wildlife Festival Queen's pageant the weekend before the festival.

DAIRY POSTER CONTEST
Turn in posters at your January Club Meeting or deliver them to the 4-H office in Grand Lake by Monday, January 29. 4-H Club members are to draw a billboard that encourages or promotes the consumption of milk and milk products and their importance to our health. A. Billboard design must be made on 22” x 28” posterboard ONLY.
B. DO NOT ATTACH anything to the poster that is more than ½” thick.
C. Print your name, address, grade in school, club and parish on back of the poster in the upper right hand corner.
D. A 4-H Club member is allowed to win first place in each division ONLY ONCE at the state level.
E. DIVISIONS: Each 4-H'er who participates will receive a ribbon. A first, second and third place winner will be selected in the following divisions:
Division I – 4th, 5th and 6th grades
Division II – 7th, 8th and 9th grades
Division III – 10th, 11th and 12th grades

Character Counts Poster Contest
Deliver them to the 4-H office in Grand Lake by March 31 or submit entry at your March club meeting. All 4-H Club members may enter a poster. The purpose of the contest is to make the public aware of character education through the “Character Counts” program. The poster should include at least one or all of the six pillars of character. They are trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. More information on “Character Counts” can be found at: http://charactercounts.org/sixpillars.html.
