A Field Day/Tour of the LSU AgCenter’s cotton, rice and soybean demonstration plots in Concordia Parish is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14, 2009. Registration for the Field Day will begin at 9 a.m. at Scott Tractor Company, 12080 Highway 84W, Ferriday. The Field Day is scheduled to conclude at 12:15 p.m.
The first field tour stop will be made at Randy Meng’s cotton variety demonstration plot located off HIghway 129 near Monterey, followed by rice and soybean demonstration plots at Angelina Ag, Monterey. Field tour topics will include water quality, as well as weed, disease and insect control. They will be covered by LSU AgCenter specialists and chemical company representatives.
This field day/tour also meets the requirements for completion of Phase II and three hours of continuing educational credits in the Louisiana Master Farmer Program. For more information, contact the LSU AgCenter's Concordia Extension Office at 318-336-5315.
