Concordia 4-H Fun Day 4-H FUN DAY! Come and join the fun Saturday, October 10, 2009, on the grounds of the Old Courthouse in Vidalia. Contests and workshops will be held. Participate in one, two or all! Registration begins: Contest starts: 4-H Food Festival 9:00 a.m. 9:30 a.m. Sweet Potato, Pecan and Ground Beef Pet Show 9:30 a.m. 10:00 a.m. Workshops 10:00 a.m. 10:30 a.m. Bicycle Safety & Pumpkin Carving (Bring your own pumpkin) You may get the rules for the contests from your leader at school or on our Concordia parish Web site or call the 4-H Office at 336-7084. Remember -- you must pre-register for the Pet Show, Commodity Cookery contests, and Pumpkin Carving workshop (limited to 20) by calling the 4-H Office by October 7. 4-H PET SHOW Saturday, October 10, 2009, Check In: 9:30 a.m. Old Courthouse, Vidalia, La. PETS MUST BE ON A LEASH OR IN A CAGE!! Open to all 4-H'ers; 4th - 12th grades! You may enter only one pet in the show and you must call the 4-H Office at 336-7084 by October 7 to pre-register your pet in a division listed below: You may enter any or all categories in a division. You will make your category choices as they are announced at the contest. Categories for your selection at the show are listed under each division and are as follows -- Divisions: Categories: Large Dog – Over 15” tall Friendliest Best Groomed   Small Dog – Under 15” tall Friendliest Best Groomed   Longhair Cats Best Groomed Friendliest Cutest Shorthair Cats Best Groomed Friendliest Cutest Large/Small Dogs Tricks Best Dressed Dog Owner Lookalike, Most 4-H Spirited Longhair/Shorthair Cats Tricks Best Dressed Most 4-H Spirited Other Small Pets Most Unusual Best Groomed Friendliest, Most 4-H Spirited 4-H Cookery Contest – Concordia 4-H Food Festival Deadline to register- October 7 – call the 4-H office 336-7084 October 10, 2009 Old Courthouse Building (1st Floor) Open to all 4-H’ers – 4th – 12th grades Registration: 9:00am – 9:30am. – Judging begins at 9:45 am Divisions: Categories: Sweet Potato – Prepared dish must contain at least 1 cup of fresh, canned or frozen sweet potatoes Dessert Other   Pecan – at least 1 cup of pecans must be used in the recipe Dessert Candy Any Other Ground Beef – must contain at least 1 pound of ground beef One-dish Meal Low Calorie   Set Up at the Contest: A handwritten or typed copy of the recipe MUST accompany the dish. DO NOT PUT NAME on the recipe – (numbers will be given). On the recipe list: 1. Division: Sweet Potato, Pecan or Ground Beef; 2. Category; 3. Name of recipe; 4. Ingredients; 5. Instructions; 6. Yield. Place a copy of the recipe on the table during setup. Only 4-H'ers will be allowed to set up their dishes! FOOD SAFETY: All dishes should be cooked the night before and refrigerated. Transport the dish to the contest in an insulated cooler with ice (must be a cooler, not a plastic box). Dishes should be cool to the touch. A microwave will be available for warming dishes for judges.
