4-H University4-H University is an opportunity for 4-H members, volunteers and parents to explore the LSU campus, talk to students and faculty, and learn more about possible career choices. It has been designed to provide educational and fun experiences for youth ages 14 and up.
The annual 4-H University program provides 4-H members from across Louisiana with the opportunity to visit the state's flagship university, to meet new people and to test their knowledge and skills in 44 contests - all while having fun. Most of the first-place or state winners are awarded educational trips or opportunities to compete in regional or national contests. The competition is in areas ranging from public speaking to wildlife habitat judging and computer science to consumer decision making.
This year's 4-H University yielded 14 blue ribbons. 21 4-H members from East Carroll Parish participated in the following contests: Automotive, Consumer Foods Judging, Consumer Decision Making, FNP Nutrition Illustrated Talk and EFNEP Nutrition Illustrated Talk.
