Agriculture & Natural Resources

Welcome to the East Carroll Parish Agricultural and Natural Resources Web site. This site is dedicated to publication of LSU AgCenter Field Demonstrations conducted in East Carroll Parish. These demonstrations are performed so that East Carroll Parish producers can see how LSU recommended varieties and cultural practices will perform in their home parish. We hope you find all the information you need.

If you are unable to find the information you are looking for, you may contact your local LSU AgCenter Office or Associate County Agent Donna Lee, by clicking on “Donna R. Lee” on the right, or Associate Area Agent Glenn Dixon at glenn_dixon@suagcenter.com and we will be happy to help you. Agent Dixon works with the Southern University 1890 Extension Program and can provide you with information relevant to farm financial management and general agriculture.

As an added service, East Carroll Parish offers email updates which includes information on the “pest of the day”, upcoming events and newsletters from LSU AgCenter Specialists. If you are interested in adding your name to the email service please send your name, email address and the commodities you are interested in to Donna R. Lee, Associate County Agent, 502 First Street, Lake Providence, LA 71254 or email drlee@agcenter.lsu.edu or phone in at 318-559-1459.

Vegetable Variety Recommendations

In Louisiana, something can be planted every day of the year. See our planting guide at: Louisiana Vegetable Planting Guide.

The recommendation chart should serve as a guide for selecting the best vegetable varieties for planting in your home gardens. These varieties have been tested and are best suited for our climate and soils.
