4-H Scholarship Information

TO: GRADUATING 4-H CLUB MEMBERS

RE: LA 4-H SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

DUE: FEBRUARY 27, 2009

Included in this letter is the information regarding the Louisiana 4-H scholarship offerings. The scholarship application can be found on the State 4-H web site at www.lsuagcenter.com/en/4H/4h_foundation/scholarships/. A completed copy of the scholarship application is due in the Parish 4-H office on FEBRUARY 27, 2009.

Applicants for scholarships must be a 2009 graduating high school senior and entering college or technical school in the Fall 2009. Applicants for the LSU Honor Scholarship on the Baton Rouge campus MUST have participated in 2008 4-H University. The applicant should use PENCIL to select the Louisiana 4-H Scholarships they are applying for since the parish can only submit three forms per scholarship with the exception of the LSU/BR scholarship.

General scholarship requirements are:

1. 4-H Scholarship Application Form (no additional pages may be added to the form).

Transcript of grades; including mid-term grades signed by an appropriate school official.

2. Letter of recommendation from an academic adviser (teacher, guidance counselor, principal) on school letterhead stationery.

3. Copy of ACT scores.

4. Must meet requirements as stipulated in criteria. EXAMPLE- The Jason McClaran Scholarship requires applicants to major in dairy production or dairy foods technology at LSU-BR.

5. Application is to only cover the last three years of 4-H work.

6. Applications for the Louisiana Milk Producers Scholarship must attach proof or show proof in their records that either their (1) parents are current dairymen, or (2) grandparents are current dairymen, or (3) parents or grandparents are former dairymen back to 1994.

7. Application must be typed.

Club members submitting applications for more than one scholarship need only submit a single form.

If you would like a hard copy of the application, contact the extension office. An application will be provided. If you have questions or need assistance, contact Mrs. Tina or Mr. Todd at 363-5646. We will be glad to help. Also, remember your application MUST be in the Parish Office by FEBRUARY 27, 2009.
