The Evangeline Parish 4-H Officer Training Workshop was held Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at Pine Prairie High School. The workshop program was conducted by the Junior Leader Club officers and LSU AgCenter 4-H agents Tina Guillory and Todd Fontenot.
The Evangeline Parish Junior Leader Club officers conducted a mock business meeting. A question-and-answer session followed this part of the program. The club officers then attended specific training for the offices they hold. Training the service-learning Officers was Angie Fusilier, volunteer leader. The reporters were trained by Carissa Hebert, managing editor of the Ville Platte Gazette, Austin Fontenot, Junior Leader Club reporter, Lainey Soileau, Junior Leader Club photographer, and Robert Fusilier, Junior Leader Club webmaster. Secretary/treasurers were trained by Tammy Hammond, 4-H Club leader, Meghan Vidrine, Junior Leader Club project secretary, and Annie Edward, Junior Leader Club recording secretary. Club presidents and vice presidents were trained by Todd Fontenot, Assistant Extension Agent/4-H Youth Development, Erin Ortego, Junior Leader Club president, and Abigail Daire, Junior Leader Club vice president.
At the conclusion of the training, the 4-H’ers were served a nutritious snack.
This training is conducted annually by the Evangeline Parish 4-H agents for the purpose of preparing the elected 4-H Club officers to plan and conduct educational and service-oriented monthly club meetings.
