2008 Iberia 4-H Junior Sugarcane Exhibit Contest

This annual event is held in conjunction with the Sugarcane Festival and Fair saluting our local sugarcane farmers. Although participation was low because of the recent hurricanes, here are this year's results.

2008 Sugarcane 4-H Livestock and Rabbit Show Results

The 2008 Sugarcane 4-H Livestock and Rabbit Shows were held September 25-27 at SugArena in New Iberia. The Iberia Office of the LSU AgCenter, Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service, on behalf of the 4-H livestock exhibitors, parents, leaders and volunteers would like to thank all those who assisted. Congratulations to all who participated. Results are listed by contest.

2008 Iberia Parish 4-H Sugar Cookery Contest Results

More than 350 various types of sweets were entered into the Iberia 4-H Sugar Cookery Contest on September 26, 2008, at the Cyr-Gates Community Center in New Iberia. Results attached are listed by Division, then alphabetically by club.

2008 4-H University Results

Louisiana 4-H University brought youth from across the state to the LSU Campus June 17-20, 2008 to compete in various contests. Approximately 1800 people, 1500 4-H'ers and hundreds more adult leaders and volunteers participated. The gathering is one of the highlights for 4-H members in Louisiana. Four-H'ers competed individually and as team members in various project areas.

The 2008 Area Commodity Cookery Contest was held Monday, March 31, 2008 in Crowley at the Acadia Office of the LSU AgCenter. Results area listed below.

The 2008 Iberia Parish Achievement Day was held Saturday, April 5th at Westgate High School. The theme this year was"100 Years in Louisiana 4-H" and was dedicated to the Iberia Parish Farm Bureau. Overall awards are listed below. See attached files for contest results.
2008 4-H Record Book Results [Image: 4-H]
Four-H clubs from throughout the parish turned in their record books for judging on March 3rd. Record book results are listed as follows: (a) alphabetically by project, (b) then by club, and (c) then by last and first name.
2008 4-H Parish Rabbit & Poultry Show [Image: photo]
The annual 4-H Parish Rabbit & Poultry Show was held Saturday, February 2, 2008 at SugArena in New Iberia. Four-H'ers exhibited rabbits and their 3 best broilers at their respective shows. Broiler exhibitors were able to qualify for the state poultry show. Approximately 50 4-H'ers, parents and volunteers attended this educational activity.
2008 Acadiana District 4-H Livestock Show Results [Image: graphic]
The annual Acadiana District 4-H Livestock Show was held January 23-26, 2008 at ULL's Blackham Coliseum in Lafayette.4-H and FFA exhibitors from throughout the Acadiana area participated. Approximately 60 Iberia 4-H'ers exhibited over 100 animals in the species of beef, goat, lamb and swine.

The annual 4-H Contest Day was held Saturday, January 19th at Iberia Middle School. Four-H'ers participated by giving demonstrations, attending workshops and modeling garments they made for the fashion revue. Approximately 75 4-H'ers, parents and volunteers were in attendance.
2008 Iberia Parish 4-H Livestock Show Results
The annual Iberia Parish 4-H L ivestock Show was held Friday and Saturday, February 11 & 12 at SugArena in New Iberia.Over 50 4-H exhibitors showed nearly 100 animals. Animals shown were market lambs, market hogs and breeding swine, market goats and breeding goats and beef cattle.
2007 Journey Into Jobs Results [Image: 4-H Are You Into It]
Iberia Parish 4-H helds its Journey Into Jobs activity and contest on December 6, 2007 at Sugarland Elementary. 4-H members were interviewed as though they were applying for a job. Volunteers representing various occupations were on hand and elementary 4-H'ers surveyed these individuals gaining knowledge about possible future careers.
